Large-scale 5G commercial deployments are expected to begin making their way across the U.S. by 2020. Now is the time to begin preparing for the costs related to bringing in 5G in-building.

It has become increasingly challenging for small to mid-size enterprises (SME) to prepare for costs associated with transitioning to 5G.

One of the primary means of controlling the costs of bringing 5G in-building is to eliminate the need for redundant infrastructure by pushing active components to the edge. To achieve this goal more building owners are opting for systems which use a combination of small cells and DAS.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • 5G deployments are beginning to make their way into the U.S.
  • The time is now, to begin preparing for costs associated with 5G deployment
  • It is increasingly challenging for the small to mid-size enterprises (SME)
  • One way to control the costs of 5G networks is to eliminate the need for network redundancy

“The exact path to 5G for in-building solutions is still evolving.  Support of active elements at the edge is the key and the primary strategy to prepare is extending power and connectivity to the endpoint”,  said Roderick Maddox, an engineer with Pierson Wireless.”
