Pierson Wireless is a proud partner of Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC), and its mission to increase education related to in-building public safety communication systems best practices and building and fire code compliance.
Pierson Wireless Public Safety will appear at the upcoming Minneapolis In-Building Public Safety Communications Seminar on Wednesday, May 22. The seminar will take place from 9 am – 2:30 pm CDT in the Bloomington Event Center at 1114 American Boulevard in West Bloomington.
Pierson Wireless will be joined by fellow sponsors Fiplex Communications, Comba Telecom, AT&T FirstNet, PCTEL, Wireless Supply, Bearcom, and Alliance Corporation to support this event.
The seminar takes attendees through the SBC’s “Three Pillars of In-Building Public Safety Communications”:
- Mobile 911 calls must get out with location accuracy
- Mobile mass notifications must get in
- First-responder communications must work
Seminar attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest technologies and strategies to help anyone overcome emergency communications challenges in buildings. They will also have the opportunity to network with other public safety officials and professionals in the industry to share real-life experiences and how best to overcome and prevent future challenges.
The Minneapolis seminar agenda includes:
- The “Three Pillars” of in-building public safety communications
- Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES) general requirements review
- The important role of the frequency license holder/radio system administrator
- Designing to minimize noise and interference
- National and local code requirements for public safety radio communications
- Recent and planned code updates – NFPA, IFC, local amendments
- System testing, monitoring, and best practices
- Info about NICET certification for designers and technicians
- The future of in-building public safety communications
- Panel discussion, local town hall, and Q&A
Pierson Wireless Public Safety Director Jeff Tidwell, Public Safety Engineer Doug Powell, and Solutions & Development Senior Director Ted Cox will be onsite to answer any questions about our industry-leading approach to in-building public safety communications systems and strategy. Pierson Wireless believes in a dual-pronged approach to public safety that supports the SBC’s “Three Pillars.” Our method involves cellular enhancement and optimization to handle mobile telecommunications traffic in and out of the facility and installing an ERCES (also known as Public Safety DAS) to support first responder radio frequency traffic during an in-building response.
